Wrong catagory and...
Some suggestions. :-) The purple shirt is lovely but it is pure fantasy. Prior to the invention of chemical dyes, and even after that for a few decades, people did not wear dyed cloth next to their skin. The reason was very simple, natural dyes tend to "run" when wet (you know the infamous red sock?) So, if you sweat and you were wearing a dyed piece of cloth well, you'd turn intresting colors as well.
The jacket is very nice for a 1740's/50s's coat. I'd suggest getting a new shirt and wearing the coat with a purple waistcoat underneath and then posting it in the Rev war cat. That would really make this outfit outstanding and keep your color choices as well. :-) |

About dyes
I do agree that the shirt is fantasy, however it's not because natural dyes run that white is most often worn closest to the body. It's because that is the colour linen takes when it's repeatedly washed and left to dry outdoors.
Since linen is a cellulose fiber it has an even surface which leaves little places for dyes to attach themselves, hence they rub off. And that is the main reason for most linen to be used undyed.
I know of one german 16th century portrait of a man wearing a red shirt, and I've heard of one or two more. But that's all I know of and not in the right time frame for this outift.
A properly dyed and rinsed naturally dyed peice of cloth should not run, then it has been incorrectly dyed and/or rinsed.
