| Description |
This is a mid 12th century bliaut and a blackwerk vair cape. The bliaut is made out of green wool, the trim around the neck is silk doubleface tabletweaving, and the lacings up the side are silk 8-strand fingerloop braids. The cape is made out of white and black rabbitskins to simulate blackwerk vair (I could not find grey rabbitskins in bulk, blackwerk vair was less valuable than greywerk and comes from skins from central europe). This cape has a grey wool backing, and is edged with green and white silk doubleface tabletweaving. The cords are silk fingerloop braids. The hair is fake, but appropriate to the era. The centure is fake, I have completed a new centure using brocade tabletweaving but have no pictures of that yet. The veil is made out of linen with brass veil pins. Shoes are replica 12th century seal house pointed shoes. (I did not make the shoes, I did make everything else). |
